Is This Academy Right for Your Junior?

This program welcomes boys and girls with a range of golf experience, from newer golfers who have swung a club before to intermediate juniors preparing for middle school or high school golf.

A Great Fit For

  • Juniors ages 9–13 who already have at least a little experience swinging a golf club
  • Newer golfers who want to learn solid fundamentals in a structured setting
  • Intermediate juniors who want to sharpen their skills and golf-course understanding
  • Young golfers preparing for future middle school or high school golf
  • Kids who enjoy learning through stations, challenges, technology, and friendly competition

Not Sure Yet?

A true first-time golfer who has never held or swung a club may be better served by a more introductory one-on-one experience before joining this group environment.

If your child is outside the listed age range or you are unsure whether the academy is the right fit, call us at 716.632.3021 before registering.

Four Wednesday Sessions

Each session runs from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Please arrive ready to begin at 4:30; early drop-off is discouraged.

What Juniors Will Learn

The academy is built around learning by doing. Juniors will rotate through smaller groups and stations so they are actively hitting shots, receiving feedback, learning golf skills, and having fun throughout the session.

Chipping & Short Game
Grip, Posture & Setup
Full-Swing Fundamentals
Driver & Tee Shots
How to Play a Golf Course
Golf Etiquette & Awareness
TrackMan Games & Challenges

Active, Rotating Stations

One group may be learning chipping and putting while another works on the driver in a separate TrackMan bay. Juniors then rotate so they experience multiple skills, instructors, and challenges during the session.

Weekly contests and games keep the environment fun and competitive while reinforcing the skills being taught.

Led by a PGA Professional

Jake Eckley Leads the Academy

Jake will lead the Fall Junior Golf Academy with support from the Woods to Wedges PGA Professional staff. Our full staff is committed to creating a high-attention environment where juniors can learn safely, ask questions, and stay actively involved.

Small-Group Attention

The academy is capped at eight golfers. Depending on enrollment and staff rotation, we expect no more than three juniors per instructor, with the program more likely operating near a 2:1 junior-to-instructor ratio.

That smaller format allows our instructors to provide real feedback instead of simply supervising a large group.

A Controlled Indoor Golf Environment

Every session takes place inside Woods to Wedges at the Wehrle Golf Dome in our private TrackMan studio suites. Weather is never a factor, and juniors learn in a controlled environment with direct professional supervision.

TrackMan Technology

TrackMan adds another layer of learning and fun by helping juniors see ball flight, distance, direction, and shot results in real time. We use the technology as a teaching tool — not to overwhelm young golfers with numbers.

Safety & Supervision

Juniors are organized into small groups and supervised by our golf professionals while using the hitting bays and practice areas. This is an active instructional program, not a drop-in daycare environment.

What Your Junior Should Bring

Keep it simple. Golf attire is not required.

Bring

  • Golf clubs
  • At minimum: a putter, short iron, and driver
  • Water bottle
  • Sneakers and comfortable clothing

Golf balls and training equipment are provided.

15% OFF

Junior Golf Sets for Registered Participants

Need clubs? Registered academy participants receive 15% off junior golf sets. Our PGA Professionals can provide feedback on proper sizing and help families select equipment that fits the junior golfer.

Please note: we may have limited clubs available to try, but because of the size of the group we cannot guarantee loaner clubs for every participant. Juniors should arrive with the clubs they will need for class.

The Goal Is Simple: Make Them Want to Play More Golf

This is a standalone four-week academy. We are not building the program around selling families into long-term instruction. We want juniors to learn useful fundamentals, experience the game in a positive environment, build confidence, and leave Woods to Wedges asking when they can play again.

Parent FAQ

Everything you need to know before registering. If you still have a question, the easiest thing to do is call us at 716.632.3021.

What ages can participate?

The academy is designed for juniors ages 9–13. If your child falls outside the listed age range, call us before registering.

Is the academy open to both boys and girls?

Yes. The Fall Junior Golf Academy is open to both boys and girls.

What skill level is appropriate?

We welcome newer through intermediate junior golfers. The best fit is a child who has at least swung a golf club before and is ready to participate in a structured small-group environment.

My child has never played golf. Should I register?

A child who has truly never held or swung a golf club may not be the best fit for this particular group academy. Call us at 716.632.3021 and we can help you decide whether the program makes sense for your junior.

What are the exact dates and times?

Wednesday, September 16; Wednesday, September 23; Wednesday, September 30; and Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Every session runs from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

How much does the academy cost?

The total registration fee is $300 per junior golfer. That covers all four 90-minute sessions. There are no additional academy fees.

When is the registration deadline?

Registration closes Wednesday, September 9, 2026, one week before the first session. The academy is limited to a maximum of eight golfers, so registration may close sooner if all spaces are filled.

How many juniors will be in the academy?

No more than eight junior golfers will be accepted. The small group is intentional so juniors receive meaningful instruction and stay actively involved.

What is the student-to-instructor ratio?

Depending on enrollment and staff rotation, we expect no more than three juniors per instructor and will more likely operate near a 2:1 junior-to-instructor ratio.

Who is teaching the program?

PGA Professional Jake Eckley is leading the academy, supported by the Woods to Wedges PGA Professional staff. Our staff will rotate through skills and stations to give juniors different types of feedback throughout the program.

What will my child learn?

Instruction will include putting, chipping and short game, grip, posture and setup, full-swing fundamentals, driver, golf etiquette, general golf-course understanding, and TrackMan-supported games and challenges.

Will the kids be standing around waiting to hit?

The academy is designed around smaller groups and rotating stations. For example, one group may work on chipping and putting while another group works on driver in a separate bay, then the groups rotate. The goal is to keep juniors active and engaged.

Are there games and competitions?

Yes. Weekly contests, skills challenges, and TrackMan-supported games will be used to make the learning environment fun while reinforcing the fundamentals being taught.

Where does the academy take place?

Woods to Wedges is located inside the Wehrle Golf Dome at 8230 Wehrle Dr, Williamsville, NY 14221. All academy instruction takes place indoors in our private TrackMan studio suites.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Weather is not a factor. The academy is 100% indoors.

What should my child wear?

Sneakers and comfortable clothing are perfect. Traditional country-club or golf-course attire is not required.

What should my child bring?

Please bring golf clubs and a water bottle. At minimum, each junior should have a putter, short iron, and driver. Woods to Wedges provides the golf balls and training equipment used during the academy.

Do you provide loaner golf clubs?

We may have limited clubs available to try, but we cannot promise loaner equipment for every participant. Juniors should plan to arrive with their own clubs.

What if my junior needs golf clubs?

Registered participants receive 15% off junior golf sets. Our PGA Professionals can also provide feedback on proper club sizing and help families choose equipment that is appropriate for the junior golfer.

Can parents stay and watch?

Yes. Parents may stay and watch or leave and return for pickup. Either option is fine.

Can I drop my child off early?

We discourage early drop-off. Please plan for your junior to be ready to begin at 4:30 PM.

What if my child misses one of the four sessions?

We plan to coordinate one group makeup opportunity for registered juniors who miss a session. The makeup date and time will be based on staff and facility availability. This is one shared makeup opportunity rather than a private makeup lesson for each absence.

How does registration work?

Start by completing the online registration form and included participation/liability waiver. We will then call for a brief conversation to confirm the academy is a good fit for your junior. The $300 fee is paid in full by credit card over the phone, and registration is complete once payment is confirmed.

Will my child be photographed or recorded?

Photos may be taken during the academy, but Woods to Wedges will not use a child's image in advertising or promotional materials without explicit permission.

What if I need to change or cancel a registration?

Please call Woods to Wedges at 716.632.3021 as soon as possible. Because the academy is intentionally limited to eight golfers, registration changes and cancellation questions are handled directly by our staff.

Is this daycare or open practice time?

No. This is a structured, active golf academy. Juniors will be learning, practicing, rotating through stations, receiving instruction, and participating in skills challenges throughout each 90-minute session.
